Reactions of Metal-Aqua Ions

Metal-aqua ions undergo hydrolysis reactions with ammonia, HCl, NaOH and Na2CO3. The acidity of a metal 3+ complex is greater than of a 2+ complex due to the higher charge density of the metal 3+ ion more polarising and weakening the O-H bond.
